Luzerne Co., PA – Multi-Vehicle Crash on I-81 N Leaves Several Injured

Luzerne County, PA (August 11, 2025) – Multiple people were injured on Monday, August 11, following a multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 81 northbound in Luzerne County. The accident occurred between 1.5 miles north of Exit 175 (PA 315 North/I-476 Turnpike—Dupont/Pittston) and 0.9 miles south of Exit 178 (Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport). The Pennsylvania State Police reported that several vehicles were involved in the crash.

Emergency responders arrived quickly, providing on-site medical assessments and transporting at least one person to a local hospital for further care. Debris from the collision forced traffic to slow to a crawl, with crews working for over an hour to clear the roadway. The cause of the accident is under investigation.
