Shippensburg, PA – Injury Multi-Vehicle Crash Involving Tractor-Trailer on I-81

Shippensburg, PA (December 22, 2025) – A multi-vehicle crash involving a tractor-trailer caused injuries on Sunday, December 21, on Interstate 8,1 near the Franklin and Cumberland County line. Emergency calls came in shortly after 8:15 p.m., reporting the collision in the northbound lanes near mile marker 25 in Southampton Township.

Authorities indicated that a tractor-trailer and up to three passenger vehicles were involved in the crash. Crews from Franklin and Cumberland counties responded to assist the injured and secure the scene. Several individuals sustained injuries, with at least one victim transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital for medical treatment. Other occupants were evaluated at the scene.

Traffic on I-81 was heavily impacted as responders worked to remove the damaged vehicles and investigate the cause of the crash. The Pennsylvania State Police continue to examine the events leading up to the collision.
