Mohawk, TN – Four-Vehicle Crash Involving Semi-Trucks Injures One on I-81

Mohawk, TN (August 24, 2025) – A serious four-vehicle collision in Greene County on Sunday, August 24, left one driver injured after two semi-trucks and two passenger vehicles were involved. The Tennessee Highway Patrol reported that the crash occurred in the northbound lanes of Interstate 81 near Mohawk during the afternoon hours. Investigators said a Freightliner semi from New Jersey, driven by 35-year-old Avaliani Giorgi, struck the rear of another Freightliner.

The impact sent debris flying into the roadway, hitting a Mercedes E35 and a Ford Explorer that were traveling northbound nearby. Giorgi sustained injuries in the crash, and emergency responders transported him to a local hospital for treatment. He has since been cited for failure to exercise due care. Fortunately, no other serious injuries were reported among the other drivers and passengers. The Tennessee Highway Patrol continues to investigate the sequence of events leading to the crash.
