Greene Co., TN – I-81 Tractor-Trailer Crash Injures Young Child
Greene County, TN (December 17, 2025) – A late-night tractor-trailer collision on I-81 in Greene County left a four-year-old child injured on Thursday, December 17, according to the Tennessee Highway Patrol. The crash occurred around 9:39 p.m. in the northbound lanes near Exit 44, close to the Jeraldstown area. Troopers reported that a 2021 Kenworth tractor-trailer, driven by 46-year-old Marcus Watson of Georgia, was traveling in the right lane when it approached a slower-moving 2024 Volvo tractor-trailer operated by 24-year-old Heron Griegiore, also of Georgia.
Investigators stated that the Kenworth struck the rear of the Volvo, causing the Kenworth to jackknife and collide with a nearby bridge rail. The Volvo tractor-trailer then came to an uncontrolled stop in the right travel lane, partially blocking traffic. A four-year-old child riding inside the Kenworth sustained injuries as a result of the crash.
The child was treated by medical personnel and transported to a local hospital for additional evaluation and care. Both drivers were wearing seat belts at the time of the collision and remained at the scene while troopers conducted their investigation. Charges are pending as authorities continue to examine contributing factors.
We extend our sincere wishes for a full recovery to the injured child and all those affected.
