Dupont, PA – Multi-Vehicle Crash on I-81/Exit 178 Leaves Several Injured

Dupont, PA (September 14, 2025) – Several people were hurt following a multi-vehicle collision on Interstate 81 northbound in Luzerne County on Sunday evening, September 14. The crash occurred just south of Exit 178 near the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport around 6:35 p.m., according to the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation. Multiple vehicles collided in the northbound lanes, blocking traffic and causing significant delays for evening travelers.

Pennsylvania State Police confirmed that injuries were reported, with at least one person transported to a nearby medical facility for further treatment. Others were evaluated on-site by responding crews. Authorities have not disclosed the total number of vehicles involved or the severity of the injuries. Tow trucks worked late into the evening to clear the wreckage.
