Wythe County, VA – Crash with Injuries on I-81 near MM 87.1

Wythe County, VA (January 1, 2023) – Emergency crews across Wythe County responded to the scene of a motor vehicle crash that took place on Sunday evening that ended in injuries. At around 4 p.m. on January 1, the Virginia State Police, firefighters, and EMS were all dispatched to a crash that occurred on Interstate 81.

Preliminary reports provided by the police show that a traffic wreck blocked the northbound side of Interstate 81. One travel lane on the northbound side of the roadway near mile marker 87.1.

Authorities responded to care for the injured victims at the scene and transported them to area hospitals.

The state police and firefighters worked to clear the roadway and allow traffic through the area.
