Washington Co., VA – Multiple Injuries in I-81 SB Crash Near Exit 17

Washington County, VA (June 9, 2025) – A serious collision involving multiple vehicles on Interstate 81 Southbound left several people injured on the evening of June 9 near mile marker 17.1, 0.2 miles south of the US-58 Alternate/VA-75 Exit. The Virginia State Police responded to the scene shortly after the crash was reported and confirmed that several vehicles were involved in the incident. Traffic was brought to a standstill as emergency personnel from nearby fire and rescue units arrived to assist the victims.

Multiple individuals sustained injuries, with one requiring transportation to a local hospital for advanced medical care. Others were evaluated and treated at the scene for non-life-threatening injuries. Authorities worked diligently to manage the scene and reopen the roadway as quickly and safely as possible. Investigators are currently examining what may have caused the accident.
