Washington Co., VA – Multi-Vehicle Crash on I-81 Leaves Several Injured

Washington County, VA (May 30, 2025) – A serious crash involving two passenger vehicles and a tractor-trailer resulted in multiple injuries and heavy traffic congestion along Interstate 81 early Thursday morning, May 29. Virginia State Police responded to the collision shortly after 7:00 a.m. near mile marker 16. Authorities confirmed that at least three individuals sustained injuries in the incident.

Two of the victims were treated at the scene for minor wounds, while another was transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital for further evaluation. The extent of their injuries has not yet been disclosed, but officials stated they are not considered life-threatening. Debris from the vehicles and the tractor-trailer was scattered across multiple lanes, requiring a temporary closure of the northbound section of the highway. The Virginia State Police are actively investigating the cause of the crash.
