Sullivan Co., TN – One Injured Following Tractor-Trailer Crash on I-81/Exit 57

Sullivan County, TN (May 21, 2025) – A crash involving two tractor-trailers late Monday night, May 21, on I-81 in Sullivan County left one person injured and hospitalized. The Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP) reported that the accident occurred around 11:00 p.m. on May 19 near Exit 57. According to investigators, one of the tractor-trailers was heading southbound when it suddenly jackknifed, blocking multiple lanes of traffic. As a result of the incident, the driver of the jackknifed truck sustained injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital for further evaluation and treatment. No other occupants or drivers reported injuries. The THP and local emergency responders worked quickly to secure the scene and begin clearing debris from the interstate. An official cause has not yet been confirmed.
