Shippensburg, PA – Crash on I-81 N Causes Injuries in Cumberland Co.

Shippensburg, PA (April 17, 2025) – A collision involving several vehicles on Thursday afternoon, April 17, caused injuries on I-81 in Cumberland County. The crash took place on the northbound side of I-81 near Mile Marker 28, close to Shippensburg. Emergency personnel from Cumberland County rushed to the scene shortly after reports came in around mid-afternoon. Officials have confirmed that multiple individuals sustained injuries, though they were fortunately classified as non-life-threatening. Paramedics treated some of the victims at the scene, while others were taken to nearby hospitals for further care. Their identities and specific conditions have not been made public as of now. Pennsylvania Department of Transportation traffic cameras showed one lane partially blocked, contributing to traffic congestion throughout the evening. Tow trucks and cleanup crews worked to remove damaged vehicles and clear the roadway. The Pennsylvania State Police have opened an investigation into what may have led to the crash.
