Scranton, PA – Injuries Reported in Multi-Vehicle Crash on I-81 NB at Exit 178

Scranton, PA (August 6, 2025) – Several people sustained injuries following a multi-vehicle accident on Interstate 81 northbound near Exit 178, close to the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport, on the morning of Tuesday, August 5. According to the Pennsylvania State Police, the crash occurred just before 10 a.m. and involved at least three vehicles. First responders arrived quickly to assist the injured and redirect traffic. Initial reports confirmed that multiple individuals suffered injuries. While most victims received treatment at the scene, at least one person was transported to a nearby medical facility for further evaluation. The exact cause of the crash has not been released.
