Rockbridge County, VA – Fatal Collision on I-81 North Near Raphine Road Claims Life of 71-Year-Old Midlothian Man

Rockbridge County, VA (October 16, 2023) – Tragedy struck on Saturday, October 14th, as a two-vehicle collision on I-81 North, approximately two miles south of Raphine Road, claimed the life of a 71-year-old man from Midlothian prompting the response of the Virginia State Police.

The incident occurred when, the victim, identified as 71-year-old Timothy James Korman, was outside his 2015 Chevrolet Tahoe, which was parked on the right shoulder of the roadway.

A 2018 Kenworth tractor-trailer struck the Tahoe, setting off a devastating chain of events that led to Korman’s tragic demise at the scene. Virginia State Police reported that Korman died as a result of the collision.

The Virginia State Police Crash Reconstruction Team are investigating the circumstances surrounding this accident.
