Montgomery County, VA – Driver Injured in I-81 S Double Tractor Trailer Collision

Montgomery County, VA (October 24, 2023) – A collision involving two tractor-trailers occurred on the evening of October 24th on I-81, resulting in one driver being transported to the hospital, as confirmed by rescue teams.

The incident was responded to at around 9:30 p.m. by the Montgomery County Fire-EMS Department. They dispatched the Christiansburg Volunteer Fire Department and Christiansburg Rescue to Interstate 81 South.

Upon arriving at the scene, emergency crews found both tractor-trailers blocking the road and the shoulder, along with several barrels and containers.

One of the drivers involved was taken to the hospital for a thorough evaluation. Fortunately, there were no other reported injuries, according to the Montgomery County Fire-EMS Department.

Authorities have initiated an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the collision.
