Lackawanna County, PA – Wrong-Way Crash Occurs on I-81 near The Davis Street, Injuries Reported

Lackawanna County, PA (September 14, 2023) –In the early hours of Thursday, September 14th, a wrong-way collision on Interstate 81 South led to significant injuries and highway closure, as detailed by State Police.

This incident occurred at around 2:30 a.m., near the Davis Street/Montage Mountain exit (182).

According to State Police reports, an SUV was observed traveling against the flow of traffic on Interstate 81 South when it collided head-on with a tractor-trailer. Subsequently, another vehicle became entangled in the collision.
