Kirkwood, NY – Fatal Motorcycle Crash on I-81 N Leaves One Dead, Two Injured

Kirkwood, NY (April 3, 2025) – A tragic accident involving three motorcycles on I-81 North claimed one life and left two others seriously injured on Thursday, April 3. According to the Broome County Sheriff’s Office, the collision occurred in the northbound lanes of I-81, prompting an immediate emergency response. Authorities confirmed that one motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene, while two others sustained severe injuries and were transported to Wilson Hospital for urgent medical care. The crash site required a significant emergency response, with assistance from the New York State Police, the New York State Department of Transportation, and multiple local fire departments, including Kirkwood Fire, Five Mile Point Fire, and Great Bend Fire. Ambulance services from Broome, Superior, and Union were also deployed to aid in the rescue efforts. Authorities are actively investigating the cause of the crash. Officials have not released the identities of those involved, pending family notification.
