Homer, NY – Multi-Vehicle Crash on I-81 N near MM 57 Results in Injuries
Homer, NY (March 7, 2025) – A major traffic incident involving multiple vehicles occurred on March 6 at around 5:45 p.m. along the northbound lanes of Interstate 81 near mile marker 57 in the Town of Homer. The Cortland County Sheriff’s Office, assisted by the New York State Police and the Homer Fire Department, responded to the scene. Upon arrival, officers discovered that a tractor-trailer had jack-knifed across both lanes of travel, creating a hazardous blockage. Further investigation revealed that two separate collisions had taken place, involving three tractor-trailers and three passenger vehicles.
Several individuals sustained injuries in the crash, though officials confirmed that all injuries were non-life-threatening. Paramedics provided on-site medical evaluations. Crews from the New York State Department of Transportation, along with Ron’s Towing, Stupke’s Towing, and Valu-Towing, assisted in clearing the wreckage and reopening the affected lanes. Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the accident.
