Harrisonburg, VA – Crash on I-81/MM 244.1 Leaves One with Serious Injuries

Harrisonburg, VA (August 27, 2025) – A major crash early Wednesday morning, August 27, on northbound I-81 left one person critically injured after multiple vehicles collided near mile marker 244.1. According to the Virginia State Police, the crash occurred around 1 a.m. and involved three tractor-trailers and a passenger vehicle. One of the drivers sustained life-threatening injuries and was airlifted to the University of Virginia Medical Center for urgent treatment.

State troopers arrived on scene shortly after the collision and confirmed that additional drivers were involved but sustained only non-life-threatening injuries.

Emergency crews worked to secure the area and provide immediate aid while also managing heavy traffic delays caused by the incident.

Authorities have not yet released the identity of the injured driver, and the investigation into the cause of the crash remains ongoing.
