Greenfield Twp., PA – Injuries in Multi-Vehicle Crash on I-81 SB

Greenfield Township, PA (November 28, 2025) – A multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 81 South in Lackawanna County disrupted traffic and sent several people to the hospital on Wednesday, November 26, according to the Lackawanna County Communications Center.

The crash occurred shortly before 5:30 p.m. between Exit 202 and Exit 201, amid busy holiday travel. Authorities confirmed that multiple individuals sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.

All southbound lanes in the affected area were shut down while emergency crews responded. The lanes reopened around 8:00 p.m., according to an update from PA 511.

At this time, officials have not confirmed the number of vehicles involved or released further details about the cause of the crash. The incident remains under investigation by Greenfield Township authorities.
