Frederick Co., VA – Fatal Head-On Collision on I-81 Claims One Life, Injures One
Frederick County, VA (May 20, 2025) – A tragic two-vehicle crash on Interstate 81 claimed the life of a 28-year-old Maine woman and left another driver seriously injured on Monday afternoon, May 19. According to a statement from the Virginia State Police, the crash occurred around 12:09 p.m. at the 309-mile marker in Frederick County. The victim, Marsha F. Constantine of Old Orchard Beach, ME, was traveling southbound in a 2014 Volkswagen Passat when she veered off the left side of the roadway, crossed the median, and collided head-on with a northbound 2017 Ford F-350.
Constantine, who was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Ford, a 49-year-old man from Lake Butler, FL, sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries. He was transported to Winchester Medical Center for treatment and is expected to recover. The Virginia State Police are conducting a thorough investigation to determine the cause of the crash.
