Dauphin Co., PA – Fatal Multi-Vehicle Crash on I-81 near Grantville
Dauphin County, PA (April 30, 2025) – A deadly multi-vehicle collision involving two tractor-trailers and two passenger vehicles occurred in the early morning hours of April 30 on I-81 near Mile Marker 84.8 in the Grantville area of Dauphin County. The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation confirmed that the crash happened around 2:40 a.m. and initially shut down all lanes of I-81.
One of the tractor-trailers was carrying a full load of beer, while the other was transporting fertilizer. The impact of the crash caused one of the trailers to spill part of its cargo onto the roadway.
Authorities with the Pennsylvania State Police confirmed that one person was killed in the accident. The identity of the deceased has not yet been released pending notification of the family. Two other individuals were reportedly injured, though the extent of their injuries has not been made public.
EMS crews transported those victims to local hospitals for medical evaluation. Investigators are currently working to determine the cause of the crash.
