Dauphin Co, PA – Fatal Multi-Vehicle Crash on I-81 Involving Tractor-Trailers
Dauphin County, PA (January 11, 2025) – A tragic multi-vehicle collision involving two tractor-trailers and two passenger vehicles resulted in one fatality early Thursday morning, January 9 on I-81 near Grantville. According to PennDOT, the accident occurred around 2:40 a.m. at Mile Marker 84.8. One tractor-trailer was carrying beer, while the other was loaded with fertilizer. Both passenger vehicles sustained heavy damage, with one driver pronounced dead at the scene.
Emergency responders, including the Pennsylvania State Police and local firefighters, worked tirelessly to secure the scene and clear debris. The conditions of the remaining victims are currently unknown, though they were reportedly treated on-site or transported to nearby hospitals. Traffic on I-81 was severely impacted, with all lanes temporarily closed during the cleanup process. PennDOT has since reopened the highway.
