Dauphin Co., PA – Fatal Four-Vehicle Crash on I-81 Near Grantville
Dauphin County, PA (August 22, 2025) – A deadly four-vehicle crash occurred early Thursday morning, August 21, on Interstate 81 near Mile Marker 84.8 in Dauphin County, leaving one person dead and several others injured. Pennsylvania State Police reported the crash took place around 2:40 a.m. near Grantville and involved two tractor-trailers and two passenger vehicles. According to PennDOT, one tractor-trailer was carrying a load of beer, while the other was transporting fertilizer.
Both trucks sustained heavy damage in the collision, scattering debris across multiple lanes. The impact tragically claimed the life of one individual, though their identity has not yet been released pending notification of the family. Emergency crews worked for hours to secure the hazardous scene and assist the victims. Several injured occupants were transported to nearby hospitals for further treatment, though their current conditions remain unknown.
Pennsylvania State Police confirmed that a full investigation is underway to determine what led to the collision.
