Cumberland Co., PA – Pedestrian Killed by Tractor-Trailer on I-81/MM 61.7

Cumberland County, PA (August 26, 2024) – A tragic accident occurred on the morning of August 25, claiming the life of 26-year-old Quinton J. Heckard of Hummelstown. The incident took place on Interstate 81 at Mile Marker 61.7, around 8:13 a.m., where Heckard was struck by a southbound tractor-trailer after stepping onto the road from the shoulder. The Cumberland County Coroner’s Office confirmed that Heckard was pronounced dead at the scene due to multiple traumatic injuries. The Pennsylvania State Police, along with the Coroner’s Office, are actively investigating the incident to determine the factors leading to this fatal encounter.
