Berkeley Co., WV – Crash on I-81/MM 4 Involving 6 Vehicles Causes Injuries
Berkeley County, WV (May 14, 2025) – A serious early morning multi-vehicle crash occurred on May 13 along Interstate 81 near the 4-mile marker in Berkeley County, resulting in injuries. The Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene around 2:37 a.m. following reports of a major collision involving a BMW sedan, two SUVs, and three tractor-trailers.
Initial findings indicate that the BMW was heading southbound just south of the Inwood exit when it hydroplaned, struck a guardrail, and veered into northbound lanes. The vehicle collided with a tractor-trailer before coming to rest disabled in the center lane.
As an SUV attempted to avoid the disabled BMW, it collided with another tractor-trailer, which in turn struck the BMW and overturned. A third tractor-trailer then crashed into the overturned truck, sustaining damage to its driver’s side. Another SUV drove over debris from the crash and was disabled due to a flat tire.
As per local reports, two individuals sustained injuries, though officials have not disclosed the severity. Emergency medical teams arrived to treat victims on site, who were reportedly transported to local hospitals for further evaluation.
